Otok (Maria Wörth) is situated on the south bank of the
Vrbsko
jezero (Wörther See). The water level of the lake was higher in the
18th century and the present peninsula was an island in that
time (Otok = 'island'). The settlement was documented in 875. The historcal
sights of the settlement are late gothic parish church, the Roman
ossuary and the
winter church.
From the Otok leads a path to Konj rising (850)( Pyramidenkogl)
where is 54 high tower with the beautifull panoramic vista to the lake
and the countryside. |
