Šmarna gora

Nine kilometers northern (339°) from the centre of Ljubljana is situated a hill with the shape of the two-humped camel. The hill has two summits: western Grmada (676 m) and eastern Šmarna gora (669 m) on which is Church of the Mother of God. The church was in the time of the Osmanli invasions - in the beginning of the 16th century, fortified and was newer conquered. Šmarna gora is a popular excursion destination with the vistas to the area of Ljubljana and the Alps.
