Description
Lobnica is a mountain stream that originates at an altitude of 1,290 m from the area of Tihi Lake (Falski Pond) on Pohorje. The river is 15.5 km long and flows into the Drava River near Ruše. Its highest waterfall is Veliki Šumik (24 m), which is the most majestic waterfall in the Pohorje region and the largest waterfall on non-carbonate terrain in Slovenia.
Downstream is another prominent waterfall, the 9-meter-high Mali Šumik. Lobnica flows through a primeval forest (Pragozd) in the truest sense of the word. A distinctive feature of its flow are numerous cascades that swell into full waterfalls during high water flow.

Access & Hiking
From Ruše, follow the road toward Smolnik. A marked trail leads through the Pohorje primeval forest toward Lobnica. The surrounding slopes are scattered with natural stone sculptures. After an hour of walking, the trail reaches Mali Šumik, with another 30 minutes required to reach Veliki Šumik. Regular physical fitness is required, and the path is very slippery near the water.
