The Dr. Branko Božič Slovenian
Firefighters' Museum in Metlika was opened on 16th August, 1969. It
was founded by the Firefighters' Association of Slovenia and still operates
within its scope today. The museum presents the development of volunteer
firefighting in Slovenia from the founding of the first fire brigade on
18th September 1869 right here in Metlika, until the present day.
