Triglav (2864 m) is the highest summit of Julian Alps and the highest peak of Slovenia. The very first known climb to the summit was on august 26th 1778. In 1895 the owner of the small area of peak, Jakob Aljaž, the priest from Dovje, built a small shelter nowadays known as the Aljaž’s Tower. The northern slope of the mountain is a 4 km wide and 1 km deep precipice with the name “Stena”. Stena is among the highest verticals of Europe with over one hundred climbing directions.
