The Castle Gallery
The collections of Gothic and Baroqueart are exhibited in two rooms
on the second floor of the castle. The gallery exhibits works donated to
the museum by Professor Franz Ferk, and also works from churches
and castles of Ptuj and its environs.
Among the Gothic works of art, most precious is a group of sculptures
from the ƄPtujska gora workshopƀ. The Saints Barbara and Catherine, both
from around 1410, are masterpieces of contemporary sculpture in Europe.
The Baroque paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries show attractive
vedutas of Ptuj Castle and the town in the past, a banquet, two landscapes,
and biblical and mythological scenes. |
