The collection comprises items from the Domzale
area ranging from stone artifacts and fossils to the 15 000 years old palaeontological
finds from Babna jama cave, speological
finds and Hohenwart's collection of stalactites from Slovenian caves. Particularly
precious are the collections of Simon Robic (1824-97), one of the first
botanists, geologists, palaeontologists, entomologists (the collection
of beetles) and malacologists (collection of snails) in Slovenia. He collected
specimens from the Kamnik and the Savinja Alps and caves and published
his findings in several scientific reviews. A survey of development of
straw hat making in Domžale region (plating, hand sewing, industriel production
of straw hats) is also on display.
