Kostel castle is rising above the Kolpa valley. The castle is
in ruins which are renovating now. From the top of the castle hill is a
great vista to Kolpa valley. The castle was first mentioned in 1336 and
had an important strategic function in this teritory. It was occupied by
the Turks for a short period in 1578. The Turks tried
to overrun the castle several times but only the trick helped them: the
Turks dressed up as Croatian peasands and carrying babies in their hands.
The castle soldiers oppened the gates...
