Potočka zijalka cave is located at the altitude
of 1700 m - on the south-west side of the Olševa ridge. The cave is 110 long
and about 20-40 m wide. The cave was used as hunter's station in the Stone Age, about 20.000-40.000 years ago. Nowdays it is important archaeological and
palaentological place. Excavations began in 1928 and were led by the
palaentologist Srecko Brodar (1893-1987). Bones of 40 different species
of animal have been inside the cave (including the Cave bear) as well as
stone tools, bone arrowheads , e.t.c...
The finds are now in the Regional museum Celje.
