Bašeljski vrh (1,744 m) is a prominent ridge summit in the eastern part of the Storžič Group, situated between Bašeljski Preval (1,631 m) to the west and Mačensko Saddle (1,622 m) to the east. It stands on the ridge descending from Storžič toward the villages of Mače and Križe, forming an important geomorphological link between the higher central section of the group and the lower eastern ridges. The summit is partly grassy and partly rocky, offering an open position above the gentler southern slopes and the steeper, more dissected northern gullies.

Position within the Storžič Group
The Storžič Group (III) extends between Kriška Gora and Tolsti Vrh in the south and Javorniški Preval in the north, with natural boundaries defined by the valleys of the Tržiška Bistrica and the Reka stream. Bašeljski vrh is one of the key summits in the eastern sector of this group. Its location between two saddles forms a natural watershed between the tributaries of the Kokra River to the south and the Tržiška Bistrica to the north. The ridge on which it stands is a logical continuation of Storžič toward the east, marking the transition from a distinctly high‑mountain character to a more rounded mid‑mountain landscape.

Relief characteristics
The summit is composed of limestone and dolomite, resulting in a combination of grassy surfaces, short rocky steps, and sharply cut northern slopes. The southern side is gentler and covered with mountain meadows, while the northern side drops more steeply into gullies descending toward the Tržiška Bistrica valley. The saddles on both sides of the summit serve as important passage points along the ridge connecting Storžič with the eastern summits above Mače.

Landscape and vegetation
The upper part of Bašeljski vrh is covered with subalpine grassland, interspersed with patches of dwarf pine. Lower down, mixed forests appear, thinning out toward the saddles. The open grassy summit provides wide views over the Gorenjska Plain, the Kokra Valley, the northern slopes of Storžič, and the ridges of Tolsti Vrh and Kriška Gora. Due to its varied relief and transitional character, the area is an important habitat for chamois and other high‑mountain wildlife.

Spatial significance
Bašeljski vrh is a distinct orientation point in the eastern part of the Storžič Group. It links the central Storžič massif with the lower eastern ridges and forms a natural boundary between two major valley systems. Its position between two saddles creates a coherent ridge connection and reveals the geomorphological structure of the southern fringe of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps.
