, this territory is the only historical region in Romagna which has kept its own territorial denomination that comes from the medieval name of the town of San Leo - Montefeltro. In the 10th century the town was the capital of the Italic kingdom. The most important architectural features of San Leo are Parich church "The Pieve of Saint Mary" and the cathedral of St. Leone. The church of The Pieve of Saint Mary is pre-romanesque and represents one of the best examples of architecture in Italy from that time period. |
