Cairo (El-Quahira) is located on the banks and islands of the
Nile River in the north of Egypt, just south of the area where Nile River
leaves its desert-bound valley and flows into three branches into the low-lying
Delta region towards the Medditerranen Sea. The Cairo metropolis
is the capital of Egypt and has an estimated metropolitan area population
of 20 million. It is the largest city in Africa and the Middle East and
one of the largest in the world.
The city has expanded to the town Giza,
which is nowdays integrated into the metropolis and where are just nearby
famous pyramids. |
