The area of Dolenje and Gorenje Novaki lies in the headwaters of the river Cerknica. Nearby is the Pasice gorge, where the famous partisan hospital Franja was located towards the end of the Second World War. Here we can still see the beautifully preserved, almost 200-year-old Cerklje homestead Kamlonarše. The old house made of natural materials is still covered with straw. A special feature of the homestead is the unusual hayrack with round stone pillars. Tradition says that the original owner of the homestead initially wanted to build a hayrack with rectangular stone pillars, as is the custom in the Cerkno region. The collected stones were unsuitable for a rectangular pillar, so he decided to make them round - ‘if they force a round one’. Under the granary there is also a restored smithy. |
