Mostar is situated in the Valley of Neretva River, on the elevation of about 70 m and below Velež, Hum and Čabulja mountains. From Mostar to the outflow of Neretva River into Adriatic Sea is 60 km. The town is the administrative, economic and the cultural centre of the Herzegovina in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The most significant sight and the feature of the town was the
Stone Bridge
from the 16th century which was the Osmanli architectural masterpiece of the bridge building. The original bridge was pulled down in 1993 and rebuilt in the year 2004 from the mostly original stones. The old bridge is on the World heritage list of UNESCO.
