The Hungarian chapel in Vižantini stands as a significant memorial of the First World War, located in the picturesque Doberdò Valley (Doberdobski dol).
The chapel is dedicated to the Hungarian soldiers who fought on the Isonzo front in the Karst region. It is situated in the hamlet of Vižantini (Visintini) near Doberdò—a place that has become a powerful symbol of suffering and heroism in Hungarian historical memory between 1915 and 1917.
The Doberdò plateau was the site of some of the bloodiest battles of the war. The natural Karst terrain, with its razor-sharp rocks and chronic lack of water, made survival and combat exceptionally difficult. Today, this chapel serves as a place of peace and remembrance for the thousands of victims of the Great War.
