The Vipava Valley (Vipavska) lies between the southern part of the Trnovski gozd plateau, Nanos and the Karst. In addition to the Vipava Valley, Vipava Hills and Vrhe also belong to the Vipava Valley as a province. The valley is known for its mild sub-Mediterranean climate, but also for the strong bora wind that occasionally blows from the Trnovo plateau.
