Tržič is situated near the former important traffic connection
with the mountain pass
Ljubelj over the
Karavanke Alps. The settlement became a market town at the end of the 15
th century because of its strategic position. Industrial town is famous by
the shoes industry. Every year in September, there is a fair "Šuštarska
nedelja" ("Shoemakers Sunday") where the tradition of shoemakers is presented.
The main street with old civic houses indicates Tržič as a town. Nearby
the town is a famous gorge "
Dovžanova
soteska".
