Zapoška Gorge

Zapoška Brook

Zapoška brook and its lower waterfalls are an ideal destination for a family hike. In the lower part of the gorge, there are two waterfalls (height: 8 m and 10 m), which are easily accessed by the rutted track.

Access: From Cerkno to Poče (3 km). In the center of Poče village, follow the sign to the mountain Porezen. At the end of the village, follow the sign toward Otavnik (Otavski vrh). The track leads down to the ravine of Zapoška brook (approx. 10 min walk).

Cross the brook and continue on the right side. As the ravine narrows, you can admire the first waterfall (8 m high). Another 5 minutes further, the ravine narrows even more, revealing a thin but permanent 30 m high waterfall of the left affluent.

The track turns into a path leading below a rockwall. A few minutes later, you reach the second waterfall (10 m high). It is particularly interesting to see a right affluent spring flowing directly into the top of this waterfall.

Notice: The path to the third waterfall from here is not recommended for general hikers. It is suitable only for experienced climbers and requires continuing to the left of the second waterfall along the right bank.
