Waterfall Šum on Nemiljščica stream used to be a very popular tourist destination in the beginning of the 20th century. Even postcards were printed at the time. Nowadays, it seems to be forgotten and hidden in a wild ravine.

Although there is no major tourist route from Kranj, local people remain proud of this magnificent waterfall. A well-maintained path with wooden stairs leads from the nearby village of Nova vas, making the waterfall accessible in any season.

ACCESS:

From the centre of Kranj to the waterfall Šum is only 8 km. Follow the local road towards Sp. Besnica.

In the village Nova vas, look for the waymark. A fine path with wooden stairs leads to the bottom of the ravine. It is only a 15-minute hike, and the entire waterfall can be seen from the bottom.
