Kamnik-Savinja Alps

Waterfall below Kopišča

Description & Geography

Kamniška Bistrica is a glacial-shaped Alpine valley located north of the town of Kamnik. It is situated in the "heart" of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. Just a few kilometers before the mountain hut in Kamniška Bistrica lies the small settlement of Kopišča. A brook, serving as a left tributary to the Kamniška Bistrica River, slides down a 48 ft (15 m) high waterfall below this settlement.

Access

Take the road from Kamnik to Kamniška Bistrica (approx. 15 km). After passing the cable railway station for Velika Planina, continue towards Kamniška Bistrica until you reach the settlement of Kopišča. On the left side of the road is a trail. After 100 m of walking, the trail ends at the brook, which slides into a narrow channel.

Note: To access the riverbed of Kamniška Bistrica, it is recommended to go around the top of the waterfall and follow the left bank of the brook.
