Railwayman's uniforms are not much younger than the first railway lines. They have been introduced with the intention to distinguish railwaymen easily from passengers. The uniforms differed from each other with regard to railway administrations to which the employees belonged to. Till 1991 "dark blue" was the characteristic railwayman colour. By the indications embroidered on the uniforms, it was possible to recognise a particular railway administration, and till 1952 also the rank of the railway employee. In their activities railwaymen used special tools and equipment. In the course of time these means have not changed much. |
