The Castle is situated above the town Lendava. The first castle was built in the 12. century. Todays image of the castle is mainly from the end of the 17. century when Turks abadoned this area. It was built by the grand duke Esterházy in the honour of the emperor Leopold. It is L shaped. In a castle are a gallery and a museum> [museum collection]. Exibits from the bronze Age are exposed here. Memorial room of the great Hungarian sculptor and native György Zale from the 19. th century is set up. |
