Lenart is located in the centre of Slovenske gorice hills. It is situated on the terrace ( 256 m above sea level) between brooks Globovnica and Velka. It is a young town but as a settlement was mentioned in 1196. There use to be old route from Vienna to Ptuj. The most remarkable culture sight in the town is a church of St. Leonard. The church use to be walled as a fort against the Turks but walls were removed later. The countryside is known by fine wine and vineyards. |
