[SLOVENSKO]
Kropa is located at the bottom of a magnificent amphitheatre, created
by the slopes of Jelovica. It is pushed into the corner and accessible
via three roads: from the north from Radovljica past Lancovo,
from the east from Kranj past Podnart and from the south from Dražgoše
past the village of Jamnik. On the south-east the narrow valley is closed
by very steep Zidana skala (Črni vrh, 1307 m), below which there is the
source of the Kroparica, a swift, steep mountain stream, flowing far 3
kilometres towards north-west before joining the Lipnica. On its way through
the settlement it is like boiling water in a pot, and this is the origin
of the name ("krop" means boiling water). The water, iron are deposits
and forest as material for charcoal were the reasons for the foundation
of the settlement and more than five hundred year old ironwork tradition.
Local people divide Kropa into Upper part ('Zgornji konec' or 'Kotel'),
Middle part ('Srednji konec' or 'Plac') and Lower part ('Spodnji konec').
