Succursal Church of the Mother of God is one of the most interesting
baroque architectural monuments in Gorenjska. It was consecrated on 2
nd
July 1729. According to the tradition this is the spot where in 1705 seven
boys found a picture of "Mary of Merciful Heart" and built an altar for
her. After numerous miracles pilgrims started to visit the altar. Later
on the pilgrimage died out, then it was revived again in and now it is
nearly forgotten again. The bell tower and the church nave were raised
in the middle of the 19
th
century. In the
neogothic bell tower above the presbytery there is a death bell,
which used to ring also to warn people who were setting out for foreign
countries to sell spikes. The equipment in the church is late baroque. |
