Detailed description:
The eighth stage starts in front of the Bohinjska Bistrica railway station. Follow Triglavska cesta back toward the town center, cross the bridge over the Belca stream, and turn left onto Tomaža Godca Street. At the intersection with Jelovška cesta, turn left toward the LIP Bohinj wood facility. Follow the road toward the Bohinjsko sedlo mountain pass; use caution as there are no sidewalks, particularly at the sharp left bend near the "Bohinjska Bistrica" road sign.
At the bend, follow the Juliana Trail signposts onto a forest path that leads up the right bank of the Butance stream to the village of Nemški Rovt (674 m). Behind you, a panoramic view of the Bohinj basin and the surrounding peaks unfolds. In the center of the village, follow the signposts right and then along a cart track toward Podbrdo, passing a small biodiversity pond at the end of the settlement.
Follow the old, stone-paved cart track toward the abandoned Kobla ski resort. The ascent is moderate, though the first 30 minutes from Nemški Rovt are the most demanding for unaccustomed hikers. At 900 m, the terrain levels out across the Strme pastures. Reach a macadam road and follow it for two kilometers to a sharp bend. While red signs point right toward Črna prst, continue straight on the cart track toward Vrh Bače.
The trail leads into the forest toward the Vrh Bače mountain pass (1273 m), where you will find a border stone from 1920 marking the former Rapallo border. A hunting lodge nearby offers panoramic views of the Baška grapa valley. Historic remnants of a caravel and the Alpine Wall (Vallo Alpino) battle blocks are visible in the cliffs above.
Finally, descend via a historic serpentine mule track (mulatjera), which shows its age after a century. The path leads to the village of Bača pri Podbrdu and down to the Church of St. Nicholas in Podbrdo. Opposite the church is Jacob's House (Jakovna hiša), featuring a museum collection and an information point where you can collect a trail stamp. The stage ends at the Podbrdo railway station.
