Detailed description:
the eighth stage starts in front of the railway station in Bohinjska Bistrica. Follow Triglavska cesta street back towards Bohinjska Bistrica and after the bridge over Belca, turn left onto Tomaža Godca Street and the intersection with Jelovška cesta. Turn left towards the LIP Bohinj wood facility, and follow Jelovška cesta, which leads towards Bohinjski sedlo (mountain pass). The road does not have arranged curbs and sidewalks, so caution is needed, especially at the end of the settlement, at the road sign "Bohinjska Bistrica" on a sharp bend to the left (!). At the end of the bend are the Juliana Trail signposts, which direct us to a forest path and up the right bank of the Butance stream to the village of Nemški Rovt (674 m). On the meadow in front of Nemški Rovt, a panorama of the Bohinj area and the surrounding mountains stretches behind us. In the middle of the settlement, signposts direct us to the right along the street and then at the end of the settlement along a cart track in the direction of Podbrdo. At the end of the settlement is a small pond with an information board on the biodiversity of the pond. Following the old, once stone-paved cart track, we ascend in the direction of the former Kobla ski resort, now abandoned. The ascent along cart tracks and trails is moderate and is more difficult for unaccustomed hikers only for the first half hour when we start from Nemški Rovt. After ascending by about 240 m, at an altitude of 900 m, the world flattens out and through the mountain meadows - the pasture Strme, we reach a macadam road that leads to the top of the former ski resort Kobla. After two kilometers of macadam road, there is a sharp bend where there are signposts: right red towards Črna prst and Orožnova koča (mountain hut), and straight along the cart track in the direction of our path towards Podbrdo over the top of Bača. After seven hundred meters of the cart track, the bend of the cart track is again to the right, and we follow a slight left along a relatively hidden path into the forest towards Vrh Bače (mountain pass, 1273 m). We soon reach the former Rapallo border, where the former border stone from the year 1920 stands. A close look reveals the former fortified positions of the border guards. At the hunting lodge, a panoramic view of Baška grapa opens up. If we follow the path above the hunting lodge, after a hundred meters we reach a lookout point. A look back reveals the remains of the former caravel, an even closer look at the walls above the hunting lodge, and the positions of the former battle block of the Alpine wall.
This is followed by a short return to the hunting lodge, where the signposts direct us steeply down the trail and then soon to the once stone-walled mulatto, which, today after a hundred years and losing its purpose, has already been severely damaged by the ravages of time. This is followed by a serpentine descent along the mule track and shortcuts to Bača near Podbrdo and then to the church of Sv. Miklavža in Podbrdo, where the Jacob's House is also opposite, with an organized museum collection and an information point where we can get a stamp from the trail during office hours. The path through the settlement of Podbrdo leads us to the final point of the eighth stage at the railway station Podbrdo. |
