Pyrenees-Atlantiques departement, in the Aquitaine region (South West France).
The town is the adjacent to Bayonne and lies about 20 kilometres from the
border with Spain. The origin of Biarritz was a whaling village which fame
arose in 1854 when the wife of Napoleon III. built a palace at the seaside.
Beaches of Biarritz along the Atlantic Ocean are popular with surfing nowadays.
Surfing at Biarritz is of a world-class standard, and the town has a strong
