Porto is a small port on the west coast of Corsica. The architectural feature is the fortress dominating the outflow of Le Porto River into the Gulf of Porto. The area of the Piana calanches on the south of Porto, the Gulf of Porto and the Scandola area with the peninsula of Girolata on the north were listed as a Unesco World Heritage. Porto is a popular departure point for boat tours to the Reserve Naturelle de Scandola, hiking to Les Calanques and exploring the nearby mountain villages of Ota and Évisa with the gorge of Spelunca. Nearby Ota village is the confluence of Spelunca and Spelunica brooks which flow as 7 km long Le Porto River to the outflow into the Gulf of Porto. |
