Ajaccio (Aiacciu)

Ajaccio(Aiacciu) is located on the south-west coast of the island of Corsica on the northern shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio. It is the largest settlement and the capital of Corsica and the prefecture of the department of Corse-du-Sud. The sight of the old nucleus of the town is old fortress – Citadelle. Ajaccio is famous as the birthplace (1769–1821) of Napoleon Bonaparte - Emperor of the French. |
